Urbandale, IA (Nov. 1, 2026) – Homemakers Furniture has donated $10,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. From Oct. 1 to Oct. 31, Homemakers pledged a portion of every sale to support BCRF’s mission. This is the ninth year the company has supported the organization.

“Every year, our customers show up for this cause in a big way, and that means so much to all of us,” said Kelsey Basten, Managing Director and third-generation member of the Merschman family. “Almost everyone has been touched by breast cancer in some way. Supporting research that brings us closer to a cure is something our whole team is passionate about.”

Founded in 1993, BCRF is dedicated to preventing and curing breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising research. It is the highest-rated breast cancer research organization in the U.S. Since BCRF’s founding, breast cancer deaths have fallen 44%, a decline the foundation partially attributes to discoveries from the research it funds. Homemakers’ donation will help fund research to improve care and change the lives of people affected by breast cancer.

“Women’s empowerment is one of our core community pillars, and supporting women’s health is a big part of that,” said Basten. “We’re grateful to every customer who shopped with us this month and helped make this gift possible.”

Beyond its annual BCRF fundraiser, Homemakers supports women throughout the community. It was a sponsor of this year’s Women Lead Change Leadership Conference, sponsors the annual Remarkable Women event, partners regularly with the Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa and employs more than 150 women.
