Homemakers Launches Sticking Together
Homemakers Launches “Sticking Together,” a Collectible Sticker Series Celebrating Iowa Artists. Three local artists created limited-edition designs, with only 500 of each available in-store.
A cat curled up on a botanical rug. A cookie with a personality all its own. A little bird perched above a design that celebrates the beauty of handcrafted furniture. These are the first designs in Sticking Together, a new collectible sticker series from Homemakers Furniture that celebrates the local artists who make Iowa’s creative community so vibrant.
Each design is printed in a limited run, exclusively available in-store at Homemakers, 10215 Douglas Ave. in Urbandale. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s waiting for you in-store.
“As more creative work gets handed off to AI, we wanted to do the opposite. Sticking Together puts local artists front and center and gives our customers a fun way to take a little piece of Iowa’s creative community home with them.” said Kate Brockmeyer, Community & PR Specialist.
Christa Lautner: “Cozy Cat”

Christa Lautner, a painter who works mostly in acrylic and watercolor, designed a fall scene of a cat curled up on a botanical rug, surrounded by ivy, sage and eucalyptus, which represent love, safety and healing.
“To me, these are some of the qualities that make a house feel like a home, and I wanted this painting to feel like a welcome sight after a long day out,” Lautner said. She studied at the Savannah College of Art and Design and is rebuilding her art business after taking time away to raise her four children. “It means a lot to me that Homemakers reached out to local artists to work with people in the community during a time when a lot of businesses are cutting corners with AI.”

Nathan Wright: The Homemakers Cookie

Illustrator Nathan Wright turned Homemakers’ signature cookie into a cartoon character. “Homemakers is known for the cookies. Why not anthropomorphize one?” He said. Wright describes his style as bold, gestural and dynamic. He spent two decades in corporate marketing before becoming a full-time illustrator.
“Working with Homemakers on this collaboration makes me feel more connected to the community,” Wright said.

Sadagat Aliyeva: Nature, Furniture and Freedom

Born and raised in Azerbaijan, Sadagat moved to Iowa, earned a graphic design degree from Des Moines Area Community College and taught herself digital illustration in 2021. Her work blends traditional Azeri miniature art, folk art and contemporary style. Her design celebrates furniture as handmade art rooted in nature.
“I love the smell of new furniture. It reminds me of the trees, leaves, and fresh air,” she said. She also points to a small detail: a bird at the top of the design that represents her and “freedom of choosing beauty.”
“It surprises and delights me when people and companies like Homemakers recognize my work and take a chance on me,” she said.
You can find her artsy chair sticker in our Free Design area.
